Hi Everyone,
It’s official- Summer is here and I’m loving it!! I hope you and your families are able to enjoy the weather, travel and the increased (but still limited) freedom from COVID while outdoors. Here are some updates from your Centennial College Retirees’ Association Board.
Our Spring virtual event had twenty-six attendees who broke into two teams to challenge each other in a trivia game. Members shared news and told extremely interesting and entertaining stories about their favourite coffee mug in the friendly competition. The winners of the interesting mug contest were: Gail Derrington, Sylvia Orricco, Anne Longman and Bev Shugg Barbeito. We ended our gathering with our popular door prizes.
Thank you to the volunteer gardeners who helped at the Ashtonbee Garden Planting Day on May 26th. The volunteers mixed compost into the beds, seeded, planted and helped set up the irrigation system.
I also want to send a friendly reminder that the Ontario Colleges Retirees’ Association’s (ocraretirees.ca) Annual General Meeting is at Georgian College on June 29th.
I am optimistic and hope that our members will be able to return to in-person events and activities at the college starting in the Fall. The Board is planning to offer our meetings in a hybrid model with an in-person and on-line option for Directors and guests. The date for our next Board meeting is Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
The Directors are making plans for our AGM reports and agenda. Our financial documents and statements for 2021 have been reviewed and our financial position will be presented at our Annual General Meeting in October.
Historically, our events have been on a Tuesday/Wednesday. However, traffic and campus parking utilization has increased over the years so we are inquiring if our members would prefer a Saturday meeting for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in October.
